Deputies shoot man during exchange of fire at southwest Harris County home

A man who had been fighting with his wife was shot and wounded Thursday by deputies in Harris County Constable’s Office after he opened fire on them with a semi-automatic weapon.

The deputies were called to a home around 6 p.m. in the 11600 block of Vale Run near Missouri City where a man and a woman had been involved in an apparent disturbance, said Mark Herman, constable for Precinct 4.

The woman let the deputies into their home and her husband reached for the weapon. He opened fire on the deputies, who shot him repeatedly, Herman said. His condition was not immediately known.

The deputies were not hurt.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that his investigators would join the investigation.
